How do I prevent Castile liquid soap from clogging my soap dispenser?

June 25, 2014

How can I prevent the regular castile liquid soap from clogging our regular hand soap dispensers? It doesn’t seem to like to be pumped in either non-foaming and foaming type dispensers. Thanks! Jen Hi Jen, You want to thin down your castile liquid soap for most dispensing pumps and foamers. Try 40% soap/ 60% water for your foamers. Hint: add soap to water not water to soap here You can cut you castile soap by 50% with water for your pump. All the Best! Soapman

Fire At Factory

June 5, 2014

UPDATED: July 8, 2014 Just after 9pm on Wednesday, June 4th a fire broke out in one of the production areas of our factory. Thankfully no one was in the building at the time, and the fire department responded quickly. The Bad News On Thursday and Friday after the fire we were optimistic we would be able to get back into our offices and shipping area that week and resume shipping soap out to our customers. Unfortunately the smoke damage was much more extensive than originally thought, and we had to relocate our factory. The Good News! We secured new space…

The Science of Getting Your Hands Clean

October 23, 2013

Recently a customer asked if our Castile soap was antibacterial, which lead us to dig into the science of getting your hands clean. The results may surprise you. (Or maybe not.) Here’s the big question: which product cleans your hands better – plain soap or antibacterial soap? First of all, the labels on plain soap may not say “antibacterial”, but they eliminate germs just as well as those soaps that are antibacterial – sometimes even better than. In fact, the FDA even stated that antibacterial soaps show no evidence that they prevent infections more effectively than plain soaps. Antibacterial soaps…

Who is Nell?

May 22, 2013

Ever wonder who the lovely lady in our logo is? Well, our Japanese customers often assume she is Tasha Tudor, a noted children’s book illustrator. Even though she was born in 1915, Tudor lived a 19th century life. She wore bonnets and full-length skirts and fitted bodices. She milked goats, used flax to make her clothing and lived by a homespun wisdom. This romantic, rustic lifestyle really lent itself to her artwork. She painted in a beautiful, whimsical style that accentuated the charm of a simpler time, of family and of friendship. Tudor, who learned how to paint from her…

IMPORTANT Information About Non-GMO Food

April 17, 2013

From our friend Max Goldberg at livingmaxwell.com GMOs are receiving a tremendous amount of attention these days, especially with Whole Foods’ recent announcement that all GMOs in their stores will be labeled by 2018. All this being said, it is incredibly important that you understand one thing. Non-GMO is not the same, or as good, as organic. And in my view, it is not even close. Non-GMO means there are no GMOs. What it doesn’t mean is that it is free from all of the toxic pesticides, insecticides, and fungicides that are sprayed on conventionally-grown crops. Organic does not allow GMOs nor does organic allow…

How can your shea butter be raw, unrefined AND polished too?

February 13, 2013

Hi, I have bought a cube of your baby shower gel and just love it. I am looking into your shea butter and have a few questions. On the wholesale page it says it is raw unrefined but when I looked at the question and answers to the Soapman it says you refine it yourselves and add rosemary extract. I am confused is it raw or refined. I am also curious how you remove the latex so that it still is an unrefined product. Hey – you’re right Shelly! How can our shea butter be raw, unrefined AND polished too?…
