Does heating shea butter ruin it?
I just recently purchased your shea butter and like it but its very hard…can i heat it up to make it soft to put on my face or will that change it somehow? Please offer any other suggestions, I want to use it as an all over body moisturizer.
No worries. Shea butter is temperature sensitive. As it warms it melts, as it cools it gets harder. Just keep it in a warmer spot for a short while and you are good to go.
Use shea butter twice a day as an anti-aging moisturizer. Excellent for cuticles and feet too. I like to scoop out a bit and moisturize my hands, then gently rub into my face from my hands (pushing upwards).
It is best to not keep it in a hot car or carry bag. When it melts completely (to salad dressing consistency) it can get grainy when it re-hardens. IF this happens remelt and put into the freezer for 20 minutes. This will restore the smooth creamy consistency.
