Do you use a lavender essential oil blend in your soaps?

My customer is saying that 40/50 lavender essential oil has a lot of bad stuff in it and that it is not the real thing; I have never heard of this before. They wanted to know what kind is used in the bars that have the Lavender before they would consider buying from me. I never told them you used 40/50; they assumed that it could be that since it is a very flowery or perfumed type option that apparently a lot of soapers use? I have not heard of this.

What a great question. Most customers are not into it to this depth.

So we USED TO use the blended lavendins. However we found a US lavendin grower/distiller and contracted with him for all of our lavender/lavendin oil (see the corporate responsibility section of our web site). We buy it by the 55 gal drum.

We use in a little orange and cedar oils to fill out the boof in our blends; hence the more flowery effect. If they are using an older item it is always possible that it was made before the switch about this time last autumn.

Thanks for asking!
