Hi Cheryl,

We agree. Thanks for asking. Filling up the planet with plastic is a kind of collective insanity we are all waking up to. At Vermont Soap we support buying factory direct in bulk and refilling dispensers. In this way we can minimize packaging, reuse some of the containers, and recycle the bottles after. Glass makes a lovely package. It is very inert and easily recyclable. We have looked at this and concluded that with the added packaging materials and shipping challenges to get the products to you intact, higher shipping cost, higher product cost, increased breakage and added carbon footprint and energy inputs required to both create the glass and to move everything around the ecological gains were lost.

The important thing is that people are aware of our collective impacts. If most of us work at always making the best choice available and continue to up our game over time we create an Oasis of Good, a sphere of positive influence that can change the dialog and perhaps the course of future generations and the other species we share our planet with. Thanks for thinking about these things and for writing to us.

Hello. I purchase the foaming hand soap. The foaming pumps eventually become very difficult to pump and require replacement. However, I’m only aware of the option to purchase both a new pump and bottle, while I would prefer to purchase only the new pump for use with the bottles I already have. Is this possible? Thank you.

Yes. We wish the foamer pumps lasted longer too. We are looking at replacement foamers for the website. For now I would purchase a decent quality standard foamer mechanism from TJ Maxx or similiar and fill it with our beautiful organic foam soap. All the Best, Soapman
